Today, Alpine welcomed a small group of donors and board members to campus to celebrate the ribbon cutting of our new playground. Guests heard remarks from Alpine Cofounder and CEO Dr. Bridget Taylor, a staff member from the education program, and Ethan, an Alpine learner.
This playground was designed with the goal of safety and inclusivity in mind. It includes therapeutically designed play equipment as well as fitness equipment, and activities focused on gross- and fine-motor skill development — offering something for everyone. In comparison to the old playground, the size and scope of this new playground provide ample space for our learners to play together, encouraging the development of social skills. The learners love being on the new playground and many of them select time outside as their preferred reinforcer.
The playground was made possible through the generosity of The Alfiero & Lucia Palestroni Foundation, the Columbia Bank Foundation, the Susan Zirkl Z.L. Memorial Charitable Foundation Trust, the Max and Sunny Howard Memorial Foundation, and hundreds of gifts from Alpine friends and family.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this project. Because of you, we are able to provide a safe, engaging, and stimulating playground for the children and adults at Alpine.
